Director, Consumer Marketing

Condé Nast is seeking an experienced, analytical, digital B-to-C marketer to lead consumer subscription acquisition marketing efforts for The New Yorker, Vanity Fair and WIRED.  The Director will manage a team of seven responsible for driving consumer revenue via O&O channels.  Oversight responsibilities include ecommerce website, native app and email channels, web and mobile testing and optimization, and cross-brand/company partnerships. The Director will work closely with counterparts in editorial, audience development, analytics, CRM/retention, data, product, paid media and advertising sales to create and execute marketing and product agendas.

In addition to ROI-driven digital marketing acumen, the ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of subscription businesses and is data fluent. The Director must interpret market and customer data and recommend focused, attributable, coordinated marketing campaigns at scale to accelerate the capture of addressable markets.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop consumer marketing strategies to successfully establish the brand; drive awareness, growth, and loyalty through O&O channels
  • Oversee acquisition marketing P&L and ensure marketing programs are optimized for customer lifetime value
  • Manage and grow direct-to-consumer presence both in the US and abroad
  • Increase paid subscription conversions on the web and app properties of The New Yorker, Vanity Fair and WIRED
  • Oversee testing and optimization plans to drive demonstrable impact on revenue performance goals
  • Leverage customer data to generate insights and design strategies and tactics to increase lifts in traffic, user consumption and engagement, conversion and subscription
  • Partner closely with teams responsible for consumer engagement, audience development and analytics, paid media, data and CRM/retention to create a unified customer experience which aligns on goals across all channels and along the consumption funnel

Who you are:

  • 8-10 years of digital marketing experience with a focus on e-commerce, direct response businesses and analytics
  • BA/BS required, MBA preferred
  • Proven leader with experience building and managing teams
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to build consensus
  • Comfortable influencing up and down a large organization, including at senior levels
  • Deep knowledge of the marketing process from initial briefing to execution and analysis
  • Track record of consumer marketing success, with demonstrable customer acquisition and business partnership results
  • Deep understanding of digital, direct, and e-commerce marketing tactics and subscription-based B-to-C businesses
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A data-driven mindset with the ability to translate numbers into actionable insights
  • Experience with testing and optimization
  • Experience with Google Analytics a plus
  • Strong creative and copy skills, and the ability to both set a vision and devise tactical solutions
